Go for it now!

What would you do if you knew you had six months left to live…? Heavy question – but an inspirational one. I think we’d be doing what we’re doing: travelling and visiting friends and family. (I’d also finally decide that I don’t need to spend thousands on a new tooth where I lost that molar last year…!)

Our memory of the past few weeks is one of constantly changing stunning landscapes punctuated by beautiful, peaceful campsites and the warm smiles of our mates and family.

Now we’re in a warmer country too, having travelled on the Brittany Ferries ship from Portsmouth to Santander (and every time we do our family becomes more of a fan of this relaxing mode of travel) and driven to near Valencia in Spain.

In our trusty Swift Escape 696 “fun bus” we’ve covered some 4,500 miles so far and seen 125 friends since setting off a few weeks ago. Here’s some footage of our travels to the awesome soundtrack of Public Service Broadcasting, and some of it filmed by Daniel, aged 5. (Yeah, watch out Spielberg!)

What we’re doing seems to has struck a nerve, and we’ve lost count of the number of people – friends and people coming up to us – saying: “You’re doing what we know we all should be doing.” It’s heartening and encouraging to hear, thank you.

We hope it inspires – as well as raising money for charity. We always hoped it would put it in mind for people to visit friends and family. Because to our mind, friends and family are the most important and best thing in the world! (Okay, we do acknowledge that sometimes family can be like this: you dream of The Waltons but end up with The Addams Family! But even so…)

Wow, we even made the front page of i newspaper this week! In fact, media interest has been quite phenomenal, from local radio and newspapers to national newspapers and national live television, and reports in countries afar including Brazil, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Germany and Ghana.

So now, for the first time in weeks, we’ve put the brakes on this amazing road trip – and in a beautiful spot right by a beach too. You can hear the waves as you drop off at night. It’s very dreamy, and we can only urge you to try the camping/motorhoming experience if you haven’t.

Here are some more photos to paint a picture of where we are and hopefully inspire you to travel to see friends and family… (and then remember to take your nose2nose pic and post it to yours and our Facebook Timeline and/or yours and our Twitter page.

Cheers for now – live a life crammed full of excitement and have no regrets!
